ReelAbilities: NY Disabilities Film Festival in collaboration with the Polish Cultural Institute New York presents IMAGINE a film by Andrzej Jakimowski
NY Premiere
Andrzej Jakimowski's Imagine, which met with critical acclaim at the Toronto International Film Festival, will have its New York debut as part of the 5th annual ReelAbilities: NY Film Festival. Imagine is the emotional story of spatial orientation specialist, Ian, who arrives at a Lisbon clinic for the visually impaired to teach blind patients navigational skills. The clinic's international community greet his unorthodox methods with both anticipation and skepticism. Ian's techniques focus on the mind and imagination through which patients recreate their world while navigating the chaos of their surroundings with their functioning senses. They do give great results - but they also carry a risk.
All festival screenings will be followed by conversations with special guests, discussing the lives and stories of the largest minority in America - the disabled community.
The screening of Imagine is presented as part of The ReelAbilities: NY Disabilities Film Festival. Additional support from the Polish Cultural Institute New York.
